On Dec. 10, 11-year-old Toines Ignacio cut 14” of her hair to donate to the Canadian Cancer Society. The Grade 5 student hadn’t cut her hair since arriving in Canada on Sept. 26, 2013.

80 years ago - Tuesday, Jan. 5, 1937: The board of trade advises the general public of a bylaw of the Town of Neepawa, having been dully passed: all retail businesses concerns in the town, garages and confectioneries excepted, will close at 12 noon on Thursday, Jan. 7, 1937 and every Thursday thereafter throughout the year with the exception of December.

The Christmas break appears to have invigorated the Neepawa Natives, as the team closed out 2016 with their best on-ice performance of the season. Lead by a four point effort from 20-year-old Reigan Buchanan (two goals - two assists), Neepawa topped the Swan Valley Stampeders on Dec. 30, by the score of 6-2. Affiliate player Mackenzie Belinski added a pair of assists in his first game of the year in a Natives uniform.
