Rural roads dominate Worst Roads lists

 CAA Manitoba’s fifth annual Worst Roads campaign closed On April 7 by hitting the highest number of votes cast in their campaign to date and inducting a record six rural roads into the top 10 list of dishonour.

Shortages have directly been affecting health care coverage in our constituency for a long time. Another new challenge has come up in the last week as both physicians currently practising in Shoal Lake have handed in their resignations, effective in November. It was especially upsetting to see that as this devastating news was reaching our communities, this NDP government put out a press release boasting, “There are 66 more doctors providing care to Manitoba families throughout the province as compared to the same time last year.”

Wildlife a risk factor on roadways

During the fall season, not only are road conditions changing, nightfall is coming earlier and wildlife is very active. Many species of wildlife are migrating and mating at this time of year, which means they will encounter roadways more frequently, increasing the risk of a collision with a motor vehicle.
