Free hockey sticks for young players

Hockey Manitoba is pleased to launch a special stick giveaway as part of the organization's 100th anniversary celebrations in the 2014-15 season. All registered players from across the province born in 2008 and 2009 will receive a free Reebok hockey stick with a Sidney Crosby pattern, courtesy of Hockey Manitoba. Eligible members will be able to pick up their stick at one of two Royal Sports locations in Winnipeg until Dec. 31.

Fatal farm accident near Shoal Lake

Yellowhead RCMP are investigating a fatal farm incident. On Sept. 11 at approximately 10:40 am, RCMP responded to a farm incident near the community of Sandy Lake.

A 44-year-old male farmhand from Keeseekoowenin First Nation was in the box of a grain truck that he was unloading when he began sinking into the grain.

Province announces improved protection for tenants, landlords

Changes to the Residential Tenancies Amendment Act will be proclaimed on Aug. 1 and will offer new protection for renters, while reducing paperwork and red tape for landlords, Tourism, Culture, Heritage, Sport and Consumer Protection Minister Ron Lemieux announced on Thursday.
