The Manitoba Junior Hockey League's Showcase Weekend got underway on Thursday night at the MTS Iceplex in Winnipeg.

Former Yellowhead Chiefs Brad and Shawn Bowles played a key role in helping the Portage Terriers edge the Swan Valley Stampeders 4-3 in what was the lone game on the schedule.

Brad scored a shorthanded marker in the first period, while adding an assist on the Terriers' last goal of the game, while Shawn netted a tally in the second period.

Clay Van Diest and Jordan Boyd scored the other goals for the Terriers, who now sit with a 4-1-0 record, while Brayden MacDonald scored twice and Mitch Deacon scored the other goal for the Stampeders, who dropped to 3-4-0 on the season.
