Plainsmen, Spartans fall in WHSFL; BU volleyball teams pick up pre-season wins

The Brandon-based Crocus Plainsmen dropped a 39-13 decision to the Sturgeon Heights Huskies in Winnipeg High School Football League action on Thursday. 

The Huskies took advantage of three fumbles by the Plainsmen, scoring three touchdowns after each turnover en route to the win. The Plainsmen finished the regular season with a 4-3 record. 

Meanwhile, the Brandon-based Neelin Spartans lost 14-2 to the St. Paul's Crusaders on Thursday as well. The Spartans also finished the regular season with a 4-3 record. 

 

BU review: volleyball teams pick up exhibition wins

The Brandon University volleyball teams picked up pre-season wins on Thursday night. 

The men's squad defeated the defending CIS champion Laval Rouge et Or in four sets. Sam Tuivai led the way for the 'Cats with 16 kills. 

The women's team defeated the Winnipeg Wesmen in five sets in Portage. Meaghan Robertson had 12 kills for the Bobcats in the win.
