The WHL's Brandon Wheat Kings made a roster move Wednesday morning as they prepare to leave on their annual west coast road trip.
The club announced that 17-year old defenceman Dominic Thom has been assigned to the Calgary Mustangs of the Alberta Junior Hockey League.
A ninth round draft choice of the Wheat Kings in the 2011 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft, the 6-foot-3, 186 pound Calgary product appeared in two of Brandon’s first 12 games, recording one assist and a plus-3 rating. In three pre-season games, he had one assist and three minor penalties.
As a result of today’s decision, the Wheat Kings roster currently stands at 24 players: two goalkeepers, seven defencemen and 15 forwards. All are expected to make the west coast trip that officially gets underway Friday night with a game against the Chiefs in Spokane.
