With netminder Curtis Honey still out of action with an upper body injury, the Brandon Wheat Kings have made a trade to provide a back-up for rookie Jordan Papirny.

The Western Hockey League club announced Thursday the acquisition of 18-year old goaltender Christopher Tai from the Lethbridge Hurricanes for a conditional eighth round draft choice in 2015.

A 5-foot-9, 175 pound native of Delta, B.C., Tai is in his second WHL season and has appeared in eight of the 'Canes games this season. After compiling a 3.87 goals against average in 12 games for Lethbridge last season, he has a 1-2-0 record and a 5.38 goals against mark in 2013-14.

Tai has joined the Wheat Kings and is expected to be dressed for this weekend's two-game series with the Ice in Kootenay.

With Honey out, Papirny has started nine consecutive games for the Wheat Kings.

A former first round bantam draft choice, the 17-year old Edmonton native has posed a 6-2-1 record, a 2.87 goals against average and a .908 save percentage during that time.

Overall, Papirny has compiled a 7-5-1 record, a 3.16 goals against average and an .896 save percentage in fourteen appearances during the 2013-14 season.
