Kobelka named MJHL player of the week

Nicholas Kobelka of the Steinbach Pistons has been named the Manitoba Junior Hockey League player of the week.

Kobelka, 19, recorded four goals and six points in three games last week for the Pistons, who sit second in the Addison Division with 18 wins and 36 points.

Kobelka, a former No. 1 overall pick in the MJHL bantam draft, leads his team in scoring with 14 goals and 23 points.

The runners up for the award were 19-year-old goaltender Kyler Beckett of the Virden Oil Capitals and 17-year-old forward Scott Gall of the Winkler Flyers.

Kobelka named midget AAA player of the week

Meanwhile, Josh Kobelka of the Brandon Wheat Kings has been named the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League player of the week.

The 17-year-old scored three goals and added five assists, including a four-point game Saturday against the Kenora Thistles. Kobelka now has eight goals and 19 assists and sits in fifth place in league scoring.
