The Neepawa Tigers took care of business on Wednesday night, routing the Vincent Massey Vikings 8-1 at the Yellowhead Centre, and in the process, winning the best-of-three Westman High School Hockey League first round series 2-1.

Trent Nelson and Shane Levandosky each netted hat-tricks for the Tigers in the win. Garett Rempel and Ian Montgomery scored the other tallies for Neepawa.

"I was really pleased with our play tonight," said Tigers coach Gary Salmon, who credited the play of a particular line in the contest.

"Trent Nelson , Brett McKinnon and Brendan Harris played some excellent hockey together," he continued.

Chipper Osiname scored the lone goal for Vincent Massey.

"Our Grade 12 defencemen Blair Krutkewich, Jeremy Hodgins, and Braedon Mitchell really anchored a strong defensive effort that limited any offence that Vincent Massey presented and [Tigers goaltender] Brady Plett made sure that anything that got through was handled," Salmon concluded.

The Tigers lost Game 1 of the series by a score of 5-4 on Sunday, but Neepawa rebounded, defeating the Brandon-based high school team 6-3 on Tuesday to force a third and deciding contest.
