The Neepawa Natives played with a sense of urgency on Wednesday night in Steinbach, but were unable to come away with a victory. Pistons goaltender Nick Deery stopped all 37 shots the Natives fired at him, on the way to a 2-0 win.

Steinbach forward Colin Baudry started the scoring at the mid-way point of the first period, with his 21st goal of the season. The Natives maintained pressure on the Pistons throughout the second and third period, but were unable to secure the equalizer. Forward Cole Smith netted Steinbach's second goal of the game with just four minutes remaining to seal the victory.

It was a fact paced but chippy game, as both teams had nine penalties each on the evening. Neepawa was scoreless on the power play, while Steinbach went one for nine.

With last night's win, the Pistons improved to 25-10-6 and moved from fourth to second place in the MJHL standings. Neepawa meanwhile fell to 11-30-2. The next game for the Natives is scheduled for Saturday, January 17th at the Yellowhead Centre against the Winnipeg Blues.
