The start of the Westman High School Hockey League season has not gone according to plan for the Neepawa Area Collegiate Institute (NACI) Tigers.

After losing during a pair of games in its first weekend of the regular season, the Tigers returned to the ice on Wednesday, Nov. 11 against the Birtle Falcons.  The end result was another disappointing one for Neepawa, as the Tigers were defeated 9-1.

The Falcons would score three goals in each period, with nine different skaters scoring for Birtle. Jory Nychuk led the way for the road team with four points (1-3), while Bryce Kusugak scored the lone goal for Neepawa, with an assist from Braden Gillies.

With the loss, NACI falls to 0-3 on the season. The next game for the Tigers is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 26, in Minnedosa against the Chancellors. Neepawa returns home to the Yellowhead Centre on Sunday, Nov. 29, versus the Boissevain Broncos.
