I know the weather is not warm enough for baseball, but it is time to start thinking about baseball for the 2018 season. We are coming off a very exciting year in 2017, which saw 94 kids registered to play baseball! Rivers was the only community in the region that had teams in every age category.

The excitement continued for the executive as we began construction of a new diamond in the fall that will be used primarily for 13-and under and 15-and-under. This diamond is being built with support from Rivers & Area Foundation, Brandon Community Area Foundation, Baseball Manitoba, Riverdale Municipality and Rivers-Daly CDC, and will be completed this spring. We are looking forward to continuing to make improvements to the park, working jointly with Rivers Comets to do so.

Registration will take place the beginning of March, prior to the league meeting on March 15.  More information will be available soon, including a registration form on our website, ballcharts.com/riversminorbaseball.

We are currently looking for minor ball parents or members of the community who are interested in coaching tee ball, eight-and-under, 10-and-under, 12-and-under, 14-and-under or 18-and-under. If this is something you would like to do, please contact me, Aaron Tycoles, at 204-761-6264 or This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. . Certification is required for all coaches, but Rivers Minor Ball will help cover some of those costs. Umpires are also an important part of the game and we are looking for kids 12 and over, or adults, who would be interested in umpiring this year. Rivers Minor Baseball will be looking at getting a clinic in town, and covering the costs of the umpire’s clinics for anyone who is interested. Once again, you may contact me at the number or email above, for more information.
