The Neepawa Farmers have been eliminated from the playoffs in the Tiger Hills Hockey League.
Keaton Turner scored the game winner in the third period for the host Carberry Plainsmen as they defeated the Farmers 5-4 in Game 3 of their Eastern Division semifinal series on Wednesday night, sweeping the best-of-five series.
After falling behind 3-2 after 20 minutes of play, the Farmers rebounded in the second period by tying the contest 4-4, scoring two of the next three tallies. An early goal in the third by Carberry forced Neepawa to once again play from behind – and this time, Neepawa couldn't find a way to tie things up.
"We just couldn't get that late goal we needed to shift the momentum," said Farmers blueliner Rodney White.
Cam Tibbett scored twice for Neepawa, while Devon Speiss and Reg Delaloye netted the other tallies for the Farmers in the loss.
"We are miles ahead of what we were at the start of the year and that's really exciting looking towards next year," continued White. "We should have the majority of the guys back [next season] which will make for some really exciting Farmers hockey."
Ross Sheard, Ryan Halliday, Geoff Davison and Dustin Fisher scored the other goals for the Plainsmen, who will now take part in the Eastern Division final. The Plainsmen will await the winner of the series between the Cartwright Clippers and Gladstone Lakers, which is currently tied at one game apiece.
