The first annual “It Takes Guts” barrel racing event at the Neepawa Fairgrounds over the weekend was considered a success.

The event, which took place on Sunday, was put on by Neepawa's own Erin Cathcart, her parents and sisters and was a fundraiser for Crohn’s and Colitis Canada, with half of the entry fee money going directly towards the foundation.

The event had 99 entries and raised $7,736 for Crohn’s and Colitis.

“We are so thankful for all of the sponsors, volunteers, competitors and spectators that helped to make this possible,” said Cathcart.

Cathcart was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in September 2012.
