The hopes for post-season play for Neepawa are officially dead, as the Steinbach Pistons topped the Natives on Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2-1.
First period goals by Tyler Penner and Dustin Loeppky secured the victory for Steinbach. Neepawa ended the shutout bid of Pistons goaltender Mario Petit with just over five minutes remaining in the game, when Garett Rempel scored for Neepawa. Reigan Buchanan and Stephen Mather each assisted on the play. It was too little, too late however, as Steinbach held on to the win.
With four games remaining on their regular season schedule, the Neepawa Natives fell to 14-40-2 on the season, good enough for 30 points on the season.
The next game for Neepawa is set for Saturday, Feb. 21 at the Yellowhead Arena against the Dauphin Kings.
