The Neepawa Natives have made a few roster moves, hoping to shake things up between the pipes. The Manitoba Junior Hockey League team has acquired the CJHL playing right to 19-year-old Tyler Gutenberg of Brandon. Gutenberg had most recently played with the Estevan Bruins of the SJHL.
Natives General Manager Myles Cathcart said the team has been keeping a close eye on Gutenberg and feel as though his experience will assist the club in its push to the playoffs.
Gutenberg has reported to the team and will play in goal for the Natives in their Friday, Jan. 8 game in Swan River, against the Swan Valley Stampeders.
As for goaltender Jeremy Link, who was injured in the final minutes of a game against the Waywayseecappo Wolverines on Dec. 30, he remains day-to-day with a lower body injury. Cathcart stressed however, that the injury is not believed to be serious and Link will return to the lineup in the near future.
In a separate deal, Neepawa has also sent the CJHL playing rights for goaltender Troy Pierce, to the Dryden Ice Dogs of the SIJHL.
