A unique form of fitness training has made its way to Neepawa. On Thursday, Aug. 11, the Country Heat Live Workout came to the Boxe Neepawa Combat Sport and Fitness Club. Led by guest Kris Dixon, a certified fitness instructor, the hour-long class was an exercise routine based around country-style dancing.

A lot of new faces turned up for the event, with only three or four of the dozen or so people who showed up being from the club.

“[It was] a fun new way for people to exercise without realizing they’re exercising,” Derek Pearson, owner and operator of Boxe Neepawa, said about the class.

When asked if he planned to have more classes like this, where a guest instructor is brought in, Pearson said that he’s always looking for ways to help the community stay active.

Pearson also mentioned that he’s planning on bringing in other instructors who specialize in disciplines like jujitsu and kickboxing to teach classes in those specific areas. “[I’m] always looking for new ideas and new ways to improve the physical literacy of members,” Pearson added.

As for the program itself, additional information can be found on Dixon’s Facebook page at  Kris Dixon Health and Fitness @CatchingTheFire.
