Long-time area resident and Neepawa Banner co-owner Christine Waddell says that the democratic process and a love for the community prompted her to run in next month’s byelection. Waddell is one of three candidates vying for the empty seat at the Neepawa council table.

Short, long term repairs planned for Main Street in Neepawa

Improvements are on the way for sections of Main Street in Neepawa. Earlier this month, Mayor Adrian de Groot, as well as members of council and town administration, met with representatives from Manitoba Infrastructure and Transportation (MIT). The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the portion of Provincial Highway 16 (PTH 16) which runs through Neepawa.

Youth Job Centre opens in Rivers

Rivers’ Manitoba Youth Job Centre (MYJC) is open once again for the summer! Centres across Manitoba are in their 40th year of successfully supporting youth employment in Manitoba. The Rivers centre is sponsored by Manitoba Children and Youth Opportunities in partnership with Riverdale Municipality, and serves the communities of Rivers, Forrest, Rapid City and Oak River.
MJHL draft to be televised live

Fans of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League will be able to watch the 2015 Bantam Draft live on television and online for a national audience. This year’s draft ─ six rounds in total ─ is being held Sunday, June 7 in Neepawa.
