The fatal shooting of a CFB soldier at the National War Memorial in Ottawa has caused a national security alert situation. An alleged gunman has been shot near the three political party caucus offices in the centre block of the parliament buildings in Ottawa.

It’s not known at this time if there are more alleged gunmen on the loose.

As of 2 p.m on Wednesday, Oct. 22 the parliament buildings are under a lockdown. Local MP Robert Sopuck and all other MPs and staff are currently safe. The MPs at this point in time aren’t being let out of the building.

In Winnipeg, there’s extra security at the Manitoba legislature and it’s reported that all other legislature buildings in Canada are under extra security. Canadian Forces bases including CFB Shilo are under restricted access as extra security has been put in place.
