Silver Spurs ride again

I am Allison Beaumont and I am your news reporter for the Neepawa 4-H Silver Spur. I have a horse named Flicka.

We started the year with fall riding. We were taught by Marcy Whelpton. Each week all members brought their horses and we learned new skills and played games. My group learned how to back up and trot. Thank-you Marcy for working with us and to Ken Dagleish for letting us ride at the Beautiful Plains Ag Society Complex.

Thank-you to the Rotary Club for buying the popup barrels. We will start to use them in the spring.

We had our first business meeting on Oct. 21. We have seven members. Our head leader is Shari Murray. The book leaders are Cheryl Beaumont and Jamie Ellis. We had nominations for our executive. The president is Jenna Beaumont, vice-president and secretary is Tess Murray, treasurer is Shellby Dafoe and scrapbooker is Kelsey Ellis. I was nominated to be the club reporter and Banner Scanner. Jenna and I are the area reps. Chloe McLeod, Makenna Sumner and I are new members. We also started to plan activities, like going to the Remembrance Day Service.

At our second business meeting, on Nov. 18, we planned activities like a float in the Parade of Lights, a Christmas party at the Roxy Theatre and our public speaking night. We also got our books. We learned how to saddle a horse and got to practice on a horse named Grandma Beddome. She was a calm “horse.”

Neepawa 4-H Silver Spurs wishes everyone a happy holiday.
