Heather Gray, Betty MacDonald and Barb Plewes co-ordinated a Christmas event in Rivers on Sunday, Dec. 7. Held at Rivers Legion, the six-hour flea market was attended by 28 vendors and several generous patrons.

Admission was by donation of cash and optional goods. Three boxes measuring 15 by 22 by 15 inches were filled with food and toys, which were shared with Riverdale Harvest (food) and Christmas Cheer (toys).

There was also opportunity to purchase 50/50 and raffle tickets. Myrtle Wooldridge won $108 in the 50/50 draw; Dianne Marriott won a Scentsy wax burner and Mary Mason won a Christmas tree, scarf and watch.

“We were happy with what we received but I think if we did it again, we’d try a different time,” says Heather. “There were not as many people through the door as we’d like to have seen, but it’s a busy time. If we try it again, it will probably be early November.”

Following expenses (hall rent, advertising, etc.) both Harvest and Cheer received $301.60 as proceeds from the silver collection, 50/50 and raffle.
