Riverdale Municipality, Jan. 20: Recreation manager Navi Gill proposed a fitness area in Riverdale Community Centre which would be funded by grants and user fees to maximize rental opportunities and promote/provide healthy living space/equipment.

Cpl. Mike Boychuk presented the RCMP “Mayors Report” outlining policing stats for the former RM of Daly for 2014. Council went in camera to discuss a financial matter.

A meeting with Way To Go Consulting has been scheduled for Feb. 3 to discuss a water and sewer rate proposal. The future of Rivers-Daly Community Development Corporation is to be reviewed and board members to be appointed.

A bylaw to establish water and sewer rates in Rivers passed first reading. Councillor Dave Falkevitch reported on member levy default in Little Saskatchewan River Conservation District. Councillor Ian Dyer reported on a meeting with Transport Canada regarding the length of time CN blocks railway crossings. CAO Kat Bridgeman reported on the current status of closing former municipalities and the time frame for opening Riverdale for 2015.

Finances: Accounts of $151,402.77 and utility of $47,689.02 (Rivers) and accounts of $876,616.79 (Daly) were passed for payment. The 2014 operation shortfall for Rivers Handi-transit of $13,707.75 was absorbed.

Riverdale Municipality,  Feb. 3:  Dale Lyle of Way To Go Consulting discussed the draft utility rate study along with funding of the water treatment plant and lagoon expansion costs incorporated into the study. Minor changes were made and the final draft will be completed in the next two weeks and submitted to Public Utilities Board for review.

 

Debbie Phythian was appointed chairperson of Rivers Police Board. Councillor Larry Fast reported the tank has been mounted on a truck and a request from the fire department to sell the old rescue vehicle. Prairie Crocus Regional Library is requesting more funding to cover the anticipated operational shortfall. Mayor, council and CAO were authorized to attend the 2015 municipal officials seminar and tradeshow in Winnipeg March 17 and 18 with related expenses being paid. Mayor Todd Gill and CAO Bridgeman were authorized to attend the 2015 mayors, reeves and CAOs meeting in Winnipeg on March 16 with related expenses being paid. A  bylaw  to close a municipal road passed first reading.

 

Finances: Council donated $50 to Rolling River Festival of Arts in Minnedosa, March 16-20. Council donated 10 cents per capita ($201.90) to Manitoba Crime Stoppers. Council will retain the services of Sensus

Partnership to reconcile and close off the RM of Daly ledgers for 2014 at a rate of $80 per hour per person.
