Volunteers will be helping to file income tax returns again this year. Community Volunteer Income Tax Program is a free program for people with simple tax returns with income at or below a certain level: $30,000 for single people, $35,000 for couples and $35,000 for single parents with one child (add $2,500 for each additional child).

As previously reported in this newspaper, this program cannot be used if there is income from a business, farming, rental property or capital gains, or if someone is bankrupt or deceased.

Information packages are now available at the Riverdale Municipality office. The program has begun and will run until April 30. In Rivers the program is offered by Rivers/Rapid City Senior Services.

For more information call Betty at 204-328-7448 or Warren at 204-328-7251. Additional information can be found on the Canada Revenue Agency web site, http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/volunteer.
