Grow op discovered in Alonsa

On May 20, 2015, at approximately 10:00 pm, Ste Rose du Lac RCMP executed a Controlled Drug and Substances Act warrant on a marihuana grow operation at a commercial garage in Alonsa, Manitoba. Due to the hazardous conditions inside the building, police vacated the garage and held the scene until power was disconnected and it was safe to enter.
On May 21, 2015, Ste Rose du Lac RCMP and the RCMP Federal and Serious Organized Crime Unit entered the property and dismantled the grow operation. Police seized 65 plants and various drug paraphernalia.
Jeffrey Turko, 45, of Alonsa, was arrested and charged with Production of Marihuana for the Purpose of Trafficking. He has been released from custody and will appear in Dauphin Provincial Court on September 15, 2015.
