Rivers Police Service Chief Bruce Klassen was contacted by a couple in Rivers who received a suspicious phone call. The retired RCMP officers knew protocol so ignored the telephone scam and instead, alerted the local department of this matter.
“Someone claiming to be with a police service in Ontario calls and says there’s a warrant out for your arrest. To get this arrest warrant off the books, they want money,” says Klassen. “I called our local RCMP and they’ve had 10 such calls in the rural area here so we need to put something in the paper about this.”
Klassen confirms any police officer will have access to all arrest warrants so if you have any doubt about whether one may be issued for you, please call Rivers Police Service (204-328-7430) or contact an enforcement office near you.
