For the second year in a row, Neepawa student Josie Pedersen organized a fundraiser in support of World Diabetes Day, which was Nov. 14.
Held on Friday, Nov. 13 in front of It’s Time, the event aimed to raise awareness about the disease as well as money to support research into treatments and cures of Type 1 Diabetes.
The event lasted from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and during that time, raised $770.
Similar to last year, Pedersen and her friends sold cookies and hot chocolate. The cookies were baked and decorated at home with Kyla Wahoski and her sisters.
Kyla, like Pedersen, has Type 1 Diabetes. As far as they know, they are the only two children in Neepawa with the disease.
In addition to raising money, the girls also wanted to raise awareness of the challenges a person with Type 1 Diabetes faces each day.
