One lucky Neepawa resident got a huge Christmas surprise, thanks to a bit of beginner’s luck. Sandra Wetherill won $100,000 on the Friday, December 25 EXTRA draw, and she’s now received her prize.
“I only started playing LOTTO MAX in the last couple of months because of the large jackpots,” said Wetherill. “I always add EXTRA on my tickets.”
The lucky winner purchased her winning LOTTO MAX and EXTRA ticket at the Neepawa Gladstone Co-op Gas Bar located at 50 Main Street in Neepawa.
The happy winner said she didn’t know her ticket was a winner until she brought it back to the same store to check.
“The clerk scanned my ticket and I thought the terminal was broken or something,” she said. “It’s unbelievable. These kinds of things don’t happen to me!”
Wetherill has known for a long time what she would do if she ever came into a large sum of money.
“I’ve always wanted to go to Hawaii with my family,” she said. “So, I’m going to take them all, because we can!”
