The results are in from a local fundraiser assisting CancerCare Manitoba and Ronald McDonald House. The Super Alyx Golf Tournament and Dinner, which was held on Saturday, July 16, has raised a little over $17,000. The festivities were put together by the Delaloye family, who have a personal connection to both organizations.

In mid-2014, Alyx Delaloye was diagnosed with leukemia. Since then, her family has been driving from  Neepawa to CancerCare in Winnipeg on a weekly basis for chemotherapy. During those visits, family members would stay at Ronald McDonald House, which serves as a home away from home for families with hospitalized children.

Alyx’s father, Reg Delaloye, announced the impressive fundraising amount recently via social media. In his posting, he also thanked everyone who came out and showed their support. Meanwhile, Alyx’s grandmother Sandra Delaloye echoed Reg’s remarks and added that the response from Neepawa and the surrounding region was simply phenomenal.

“We’re thankful for all the people who volunteered their time, whether it was at the golf course or in the Yellowhead Hall. [A thanks as well], to those organizations that donated items for the auction. And of course, a huge thanks to everyone that came out and supported the golf tournament, supper and auction and truly making it a success,” said Delaloye.

The fundraiser featured a round of golf at the Neepawa Golf and Country Club and dinner at the Yellowhead Hall. The evening also featured an auction, with items donated from the Winnipeg Jets, St. Louis Blues and Dallas Stars of the National Hockey League, as well as Major League Baseball’s St. Louis Cardinals.

As for the future prognosis of Alyx, the outlook remains positive, as she is  currently in remission. However, the family still has several months of travelling back to Winnipeg for the final stages of treatment.
