“Dream home” now located in Neepawa.
The number of fine homes in Neepawa was increased by one last week, when the “dream home” on display at the Provincial Exhibition at Brandon was transported here. The contractors arrived with the modern structure last Tuesday, the Press was informed, and workmen finished their placing of the home on the foundation Monday afternoon. The basement is of concrete block construction.
Morris Gerrie of Birnie was the winner of the home, which is now located on the lots on the south side of Ada Street near Brown Avenue and overlooking Park Lake. It is understood that the owner will rent the house when work is completed.

Eden Seniors captured Neepawa and District League baseball championship trophy for the fifth time Friday night, when they emerged with a 5-4 triumph over Neepawa Farmers in a 12-inning thriller.
More than 500 fans watched the battle for supremacy in the third and deciding game of the series, and nobody asked for money back in the bargain bill.
Eden won the first game here 1-0 and the Farmers, who topped the regular season schedule, squared the set with a 4-1 victory at Eden last Sunday.
Ron McGorman, sturdy right hand ace of the Eden mound core, who went all the way in the first game too, picked up his second win in the series, scattering six hits over the long route. His opponent was again slender southpaw Gary Martin, Farmers playing coach. Both twirlers went 21 innings in the two games and the decision could have gone either way in the keenly contested playoff.
Martin allowed the winners nine hits in the Friday game and turned in some great clutch pitching to keep the Farmers in the game in the late innings.

Following a summer of turmoil in which the existence of the franchise seemed threatened, the Neepawa Natives have started receiving some good news.
With a new ownership group solidly in place, the Natives also learned last week they will most likely have ice in Neepawa when they open the home portion of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League schedule on Oct. 4.
The prospect of having to play as many as their first four home games on the road was all but dismissed by Neepawa recreation director John Douglas.
“We’re off schedule a bit, but I’m still confident we’ll have things ready by the 15th of September,” said Douglas, referring to the installation of a new ice plant at the Yellowhead Arena.

Neepawa Fire Chief Scott Gibson suspects a bonfire at a drinking party may be responsible for the outbreak of a wide-scale grassfire that firefighters fought for over seven hours last Sunday.
“It looks like there was a bonfire and some drinking and partying the night before, because we found open liquor on the scene,” Gibson said. “I’m only guessing, but I think either the fire was smouldering [overnight] and started that fire, or they may have come back to get the liquor on Sunday and started the open fire then.”
