Fatal auto accident east of Gladstone

A multi-vehicle accident near Gladstone has proven fatal, with one person dead and another rushed to hospital. According to a police update, released Friday morning, Neepawa RCMP received a call on July 6 at 10:25 a.m. reporting a two-vehicle collision on Highway 16, near Provincial Road 350. The accident was located about 12 kilometres east of Gladstone.

Upon further investigation, police determined that an SUV with two occupants, being driven by a 53-year-old female from Winnipeg, was heading west when it veered into the eastbound lane and collided head-on with a semi-truck.

The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead on the scene and her passenger, an 18-year-old male, was transported to hospital with minor physical injuries. The semi-driver, a 63-year-old from Plumas, was not physically injured. 

Neepawa RCMP, along with a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist, continue to investigate.
