Rivers Police pleased with funding boost

A provincial announcement on Tuesday, Sept. 1 provides more finances for police agencies and the best part is it’s not coming from our tax dollars. A press release states, “Criminals will pay for greater public safety.” Most money or assets linked to criminal activity is deposited into Manitoba’s Criminal Property Forfeiture Fund. Money from this fund is then annually allocated to police departments (or other initiatives) though a grant program. This year the fund awarded $276,000 to five departments; $12,000 was earmaked for Rivers.

Bicycle parade at Country Meadows

On Tuesday, Sept. 15, Country Meadows will host a bike decorating parade for Neepawa.  Staff, residents and family encourage all youth in Neepawa to deck out their bikes and come out for a fun filled evening.

Awesome Race coming next month

If you are a fan of the popular TV show Amazing Race and have always wanted to enter, check out Awesome Race for Breath! Teams of two fundraise for The Lung Association Manitoba to earn their place at the start line on Saturday, Oct. 24 at The Town Centre, Brandon. Teams solve clues to find 12 pit stops around the city to complete fun and zany challenges. The first team back wins! But it won’t be that easy! There are bump cards, detours and U-turns along the way to keep it interesting. You don’t have to be an athlete – the challenges are meant to be fun.
