New playground in Rapid City

In spring 2012 Rolling River School Division (RRSD) sent a letter to Rapid City announcing the school’s playground equipment was inspected and that replacement would be necessary. The treated lumber wooden structures were installed in 1995 and after nearly 20 years, was nearing its life expectancy.

Market returns to Rapid City for second season

Last year, Rapid City Chamber of Commerce hosted a three-month community market and it was such a successful venture they have planned the same for this summer. Held for two hours one night a week, the first event of 2015 was July 2. Co-ordinator Lynne Miller admits there were fewer people than at last year’s opening, but wondered if the proximity to Canada Day kept some away. While shoppers were fewer in numbers, exhibitors were more.

Great events scheduled for July 23 weekend

The Plumas Fun Day will be one of the anchor events in the Banner coverage area on the weekend of July 23-27. Readers will note that date range is actually a five day extended weekend with a range of activities for everyone. The Plumas Fun Day committee is planning to stretch their day a bit as well with a Plumas Prates baseball game on Friday, July 24. The following morning will kick off with a pancake breakfast and a parade. There will be beer garden and a slow pitch tournament. The concession will be open all day and at night, a perogy and sausage supper is planned.

Heavy rain washes out road 92 north of Mountain Road Highway

Rain struck hard in some parts of the region over the weekend. The Elk Ranch area in the R.M. of Rosedale was especially badly hit on Saturday. A number of roads were washed out after close to 5" of rain fell in approximately two hours.
