Talks underway on new HyLife deal

Bargaining sessions have begun between HyLife Foods and the UFCW Local 832, the union representing employees at the Neepawa plant. The current five-year contract is set to expire on Jan. 31, 2015 but will remain in effect until a settlement is reached.

CN land development in Neepawa discussed

Neepawa is exploring its options with the redevelopment of the former C.N. land. On Tuesday, Jan. 20, council received an update on several proposals from developers that are interested in the 42 acres, near the intersection of Highway five and sixteen. That property was purchased by the Town from Canadian National Railways back in 2013.

Riverdale Municipality, Jan. 5: A bylaw to authorize incentives for urban land recycling (infill housing) within the previous boundaries of the Town of Rivers passed first reading. Authorization for a line of credit of $1.5 million (Riverdale taxes are $3.46 million) was given on condition that the amount borrowed (and interest) will be paid in the current fiscal year.
