This three part series is all about growing up in Neepawa. It’s not just from my generation, but from younger and older generations, albeit about mostly the same places.
The bear cave
An example would be at Park Lake. Fairly close to where the bird sanctuary is now, near the lake’s bank, was what we called the bear cave. There was never any proof that an actual bear lived inside and in fact it was likely a man-made effort. Word has it, from more than one source, that the Burnett boys had built it. They lived up top in a house high up, just off Park Lake Road.

A little bit of rain may have forced PAC’n the Park to change locations, but it did very little to dampen the overall spirits of day. The event, which took place on Sunday, Sept. 25, was put together by Prairie Alliance Church and was to feature an outdoor church service, free community brunch, live entertainment and an array of children’s activities.

Police conducted a check of the quad based on the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and were informed that the quad was stolen. As a result, the quad was towed and impounded. The owner of the quad was able to produce a bill of sale from a used vehicle dealership in Winnipeg.

Over the years, Honda Civic has remained the nation’s favourite compact car, due to its combination of quality, reliability, value, low running costs and a more involving drive than most. However, in order to maintain its place at the top of the compact class, Honda released an all-new 10th generation 2016 Civic at the end of 2015 with the intention of addressing the model’s shortcomings compared to its competitors. This time last year, I tested the “old” 2015 Honda Civic and concluded that it remains the nation’s favourite compact car due to its combination of quality, reliability, value, low running costs and a more involving drive than most. However, despite having only been around for four model years, newer rivals have usurped it in terms of style, power, efficiency, driving experience, refinement and space.
