80 years ago Tuesday, Sept. 1, 1936

When the new C.P.R. semi-streamlined train, pictured to the right, smoothly pulled into Neepawa Sunday noon, a crowd of 1,800 thronged the platform to greet the first vehicle of its kind to pass through the town. People made a special motor trip from miles away to see the train.

Flavour of Mexico comes to Neepawa

Last week, Neepawa welcomed some very important international delegates. From Aug. 27 to Sept. 3, a Mexican delegation from the City of Salvatierra, Guanajuato, came to Manitoba on a trade mission sponsored by HyLife and their partner Mercator Inc. The World Trade Centre (WTC) in Winnipeg hosted the visitors, who also came to Neepawa for a few days during their mission.

We’ve had a wild summer at Neepawa Library. Congratulations to all the participants in the TD Summer Reading Club this year - from the enthusiastic pre-readers to the middle grade readers and teens who enjoyed all the books and activities we had to offer this summer. Our theme this year was “wild” and we had lots of wild fun traveling around the world learning about wild places and wild things, thanks to Vicky Elgert who led the activities again this year.

On Monday, Aug. 29, a get-together was held at the Rotary Park Bird Sanctuary. The purpose of the meeting was for Jake Birch explains the day-to-day requirements for looking after the birds at the sanctuary to some potential volunteers.
