The Rotary Club of Neepawa has donated $1,000 to the Neepawa Area Collegiate Institute HOPE program. The money is to assist HOPE’s commitment to Free the Children, an international charity and youth movement founded in 1995 with the aim of empowering young people to become socially engaged.

Field set for Neepawa by-election

The field has officially been set for a by-election in Neepawa to fill a vacant council seat. Three candidates, Darryl Gerrard, Don Walmsley and Christine Waddell have formally filled their paperwork. The candidates are seeking the council chair vacated by Jodi Baker in April.

Missing Rapid City woman found dead

Just before 7 p.m. on May 5 Spruce Plains RCMP were alerted to a missing person from Rapid City. Nicole Marie Jones, 42, was last seen on May 4; police were concerned for her well-being. On May 9 at approximately 8 p.m. Spruce Plains RCMP located Jones. She was found deceased and no foul play is suspected.

Rivers Banner deadline is Tuesday at 5 p.m. but late Wednesday morning, the office was contacted by Riverdale Community Daycare board with some urgent news. They have just submitted their application to Together We Thrive, in hopes of winning a $25,000 grant.

The month of April was busy for Rivers Police Service; it saw a total of 59 calls for service. This month was the kickoff for our distracted driving campaign, which targets cell phone users as well as at-risk driving offences such as speeding.
