Last week, Neepawa council effectively voted to muzzle themselves. At the May 19 council meeting, they unanimously and without discussion passed a new media relations policy that could be politely described as “restrictive”.

If there’s a lesson coming out of Alberta’s election of an NDP government it is this. People eventually get tired of governments unless those governments can explain their actions to the voters. The 44 year-old PC government in Alberta had gone long past their best before date and could no longer explain their actions to the voters. They had driven off into the political wilderness somewhere and couldn’t understand why people didn’t still support them. Their wandering has been well documented.

The Manitoba Agricultural Museum 2021 Manitoba Threshermen’s Reunion and Stampede festival will feature Cockshutt Farm Equipment and host the annual convention of the International Cockshutt Club. The 2021 Cockshutt convention will highlight the 75th anniversary of the iconic Cockshutt 30 tractor, the first modern tractor designed and built in Canada. The tractor gained worldwide status for pioneering the use of live hydraulics and Live-Power-Take-Off systems to power attached equipment. Province backs Westman bid for soybean facility

A local group’s effort to attract a world-class soybean facility to the region has received a financial boost. The Westman Opportunities Leadership Group (WOLG) recently secured a $75,000 grant from the province, through the Partner 4 Growth program. The funding is expected to help advance the WOLG’s attempts in attracting a multi-million dollar soybean processing facility to Manitoba.
