A protest of the result of game one of the Manitoba Female Midget Hockey League (MFMHL) was filed by the Central Plains Capitals and was ruled on by the MFMHL executive on Thursday Mar. 17.  The protest was filed in connection to a penalty shot being awarded to the Yellowhead Chiefs during overtime, which lead to the game winning goal.

After considering several factors including input from both teams and Hockey Manitoba, the league has declared game one played on Wednesday, Mar. 16 is null and void.  The awarding of the penalty shot for the delay of game penalty in overtime was detemined to be incorrect and while a referees decision on calling a penalty can't be appealed, the erroneous application of the result (a penalty shot rather then a 2 minute penalty) was considered to be open to a protest.

With this decision by the league, the final series will begin again and will follow the previously announced schedule this weekend, with Game one in Portage la Prairie on Friday, Mar. 18 onight, followed by game 2 on Sunday in Shoal Lake on Sunday, Mar. 20 and game 3 played in Shoal Lake next week.
