A magnificent aerial performance by quarterback Dylan Oshanyk was not enough for the Neepawa Tigers, as the team’s playoff hopes came to an end at the hands of the Dauphin Clippers. The top ranked Clippers (6-0-0) were able to notch four offensive touchdowns to claim the 42-20 win on Saturday, Oct. 29 in Rural Manitoba Football League (RMFL) playoff action.

Neepawa’s Oshanyk connected with Will Rainka (85 yards), Landen Poitras (39 yards) and Taine Middleton (38 yards) for touchdowns, while Jesse Jones added a two point conversion catch to finish out the Tigers’ offensive effort. Though it was an impressive passing display by NACI (3-3-1), it wasn’t enough, as Dauphin QB Ty Hassel was 17-25 in pass attempts for 169 yards. Though the Clippers were ultimately successful on the offensive side of the ball, Neepawa didn’t make it easy for them. Dillan Neufeld led the Tigers’ defense with 11 tackles and a pair of sacks.

Elsewhere around the RMFL, the Moosomin Generals also advanced to the league final, with a 54-24 victory over Southwest. Dauphin and Moosomin will face one another on Saturday, Nov. 5, for the Doug Steeves Cup. As for the Murray Black Cup, the fifth ranked Virden Golden Bears upended East Parkland 23-14, while Swan River toppled Parkwest 34-6 to move on to the consolation final.
