Tagalog, the Austronesian language that is spoken as a first language by a quarter of the population of the Philippines and as a second language by nearly every Filipino citizen, is now being taught in Neepawa.

A last minute goal from former Swan Valley Stampeder Daylon Creasy has sent the Carberry Plainsmen to the THHL finals for the second straight year. Creasy’s marker lifted Carberry to a 5-4 win over the Neepawa Farmers on Friday, Mar. 10 at the Yellowhead Centre. With that victory, the Plainsmen claimed the best-of seven series four game to one.

A solid effort in the final four minutes of regulation was not enough to make up for 56 minutes of lackluster play from the Neepawa Natives, as they lost 3-2 to the Steinbach Pistons on Sunday, Mar. 12. That win evened up the best-of-seven MJHL quarter final series at one game apiece.
