Rocky Mountain Equipment (RME), owners of the Case-IH farm machinery dealership in Neepawa will be on the move to a new location in the area in the near future.

On Sept. 24, the Town of Neepawa council approved the sale of 15 acres for $75,000 to Rocky Mountain Equipment. The  parcel of land is located on the north side of Highway 16 in the town’s industrial park, across from Brahma’s Grill. It will be accessed off the municipal road, called Neepawa Road, but better known locally as the old dump road.

Back in July, their current location, the former Mayor Equipment building, which they had been leasing, was put up for sale. The vendor had received an offer and RME had until October to match the offer.

They decided to build a new dealership and entered into negotiations with the Town of Neepawa to purchase land for a new location.

The east industrial park is a parcel of land purchased by the Town of Neepawa for future industrial and commercial development in 2002 for $84,000. Manitoba Hydro has also expressed interest in building a new building on another piece of the park. The industrial park is about 60 acres in total.

“This sale is good for the town and for Rocky Mountain. It keeps 20 jobs in the Neepawa and Langford area and it will generate tax dollars for the Town of Neepawa,” said councillor Robyn Copeland.

“It’s good for everyone and with one good anchor business in the park, it may make it easier for other businesses to locate there,” said Neepawa Mayor Ken Waddell.

Rocky Mountain Equipment is based out of Calgary, Alta. and has 38 locations across western Canada.

Chad Gray, branch manager, says he hopes to start construction with earth work and land preparation very shortly. He said actual building construction may start by February.
