On Dec. 10, Christmas is coming early to Brookdale with a special performance by Country Blend. This will be the second year that the band and the Brookdale Elementary School Parent Council have teamed up to present a Christmas concert.

Called “Christmas and Classic Country”, the performance will offer a mix of Christmas music as well as classic country.  The five-member group of seasoned musicians formed in 2004 and since then, they have been entertaining crowds with their high-energy concerts of traditional country music and country Gospel performed at easy listening volumes.

The concert is a major fundraiser for the small elementary school and last year’s concert raised $1,500.  Parent council member Becky Szucki said that the money raised is used to support extra curricular activities, such as the swimming program, purchase items or equipment and to offset any additional travel costs.

Fun for the whole family, Szucki said that the concert would make a great early Christmas gift for a hard to buy for friend or family member. Neepawa resident Lyle Watson  is hoping to organize a handi-transit ride from Neepawa to Brookdale and back for the concert. He said that they need a minimum of 16 passenger to run the service.  Anyone interested in booking should contact Watson 204-476-3585 or Genie Barnaby at the HAND office.

The concert will take place at the Brookdale Community Hall on Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 7:30 p.m.  For more information, please contact Szucki at 204-212-2083.
