The Town of Neepawa is exploring the possibility of an off-leash dog park. Due to a high volume of community interest from pet owners, a town driven committee has been formed and is looking for approval to potentially establish the facility at Rotary Park.

Council discussed the proposal’s current progress during its meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 2. During the deliberations, it was noted that the Economic Development Officer for Neepawa, Marilyn Crewe, as well as Leisure Services Manager Amanda Novak recently made a presentation to the local Rotary Club, outlining the initial details. The club is in support of the project.

After receiving the update, council approved further exploration of the dog park proposal.  It should be noted that the council approval was not for any immediate funds from the town to be set aside for the park, but simply to give administration permission to explore potential funding options, which could include applying for the provincial government’s Community Places Grant. The set deadline for application to that grant is set for Dec. 15.
