The March 9 meeting of Rivers Legion was called to order by president Darryl Childerhose; 13 members were present. He welcomed our guest, Zone Commander Champigny, from Oak Lake. He also gave thanks to Jessie Bell for her recent interview with him and her excellent article in Rivers Banner about the roof project.

Comrade Barb Plewes reported that bingo is running successfully with an attendance of 40-48 people. The pots are getting large and attendance is increasing; volunteers are needed to work the floor.

Our Legion golf tournament is set for June 20. Rivers and Area Lions Club will provide the usual pancake breakfast. Many ladies auxiliary members will be away at convention that weekend so the branch will arrange a barbecue instead of the usual banquet.

There was some discussion about the new manuals and handbooks from Dominion Command being only available online. Some of the smaller branches in rural areas do not have high speed Internet and large files cannot be easily downloaded on dial-up connections. This matter may come up at the next dominion convention. “Maybe we should just tweet the twits on Twitter.” It wasn’t that long ago that that last sentence would make no sense at all!

Lest we forget.
