Dig-All Construction has begun mobilizing its equipment on the former CN property. The Winkler-based company was selected earlier this month to install a new trunk sewer in the area, as part of a massive infrastructure project planned by the Town of Neepawa. Dig-All had the lowest bid, at $605,400 plus tax. Work on the first phase of the project will likely start in early May.

Recycling request

Administration with the Town of Neepawa is requesting people do not overfill their recycling bags. The town received a memorandum from Portage and District Recycling, the company where the recycled materials are sent. Portage and District noted that the overfilled blue bags are causing some issues with its sorting machines. The company asked town officials to relay a message to ratepayers to leave recycled materials loose in the blue bins or to not overfill the blue recycling bags.

Canada Day planning

A meeting has been scheduled for Monday, May 2 at the Neepawa Town Office to discuss the organization of festivities for Canada Day. Representatives with service groups across the community have been invited to the gathering to talk about what types of secondary events could be arranged around the fireworks celebration and who would be in charge of organizing them. The meeting has been set for 7:00 pm. Anyone interested in learning more or wishing to volunteer is invited to attend.

Farmery Micro-Brewery

A request from the Farmery Brewery to change the zoning bylaw at its new proposed location in Neepawa has taken another step forward. The business would like to establish its new brewing facility at the former Mazergroup location on Highway 5 north.  The property however, needed to be rezoned from commercial to light industrial to allow for a small scale industry, being the micro-brewery within the “CH” commercial highway zone. Council reviewed the request and approved conditional use for the property.
