RM of Oakview, May 10: Metals are to be hauled out and gravel applied at both waste sites. Eight feet of 24-inch plastic culvert will be donated to Hamiota Kids Club Inc. for playground use. Cleaning up property in Basswood was discussed. An inquiry if council would consider reducing the price of the lots in Oak River subdivision was mentioned; a suggestion was received that a $10,000 rebate be given to owners who buy and build a new home there within two years. A policy is to be drafted for review.

Request for water/sewer line extension to property on Seventh Avenue in Rapid City was discussed; the ratepayer will be informed of procedures that need to be followed. Midwest Weed District supervisor Rene Heijmans was appointed weed board inspector. A half-day seminar in Brandon will explain qualification-based selection instead of low-bid requests when hiring architects, engineers and other professional services firms; CAO Diane Kuculym and Councillor Ken Hyndman were authorized to attend the June 2 seminar with registration and mileage being paid. Ideas for a float for a parade was discussed as were promotional items; 300 pens have been ordered.

Finances: Manitoba Water Services Board has allocated $84 million in the next five years to expand their projects projects; council will complete an infrastructure renewal request they may consider in the next two to four years. Council supported Agriculture in the Classroom – MB Inc. with a $500 membership. Minnedosa & Area Community Development Corporation was paid its levy of $12,000. Blanshard CDC was granted $12,000. Accounts of $93,383.88 and unpaid invoices of $24,285.81 were passed for payment. The next meeting is May 31 at 7:30 p.m.
