The Neepawa Rotary Club and Rotary District 5550 is looking for experienced qualified teachers from Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Western Ontario to participate in a Vocational Training Team (VTT) to Guatemala in February 2017. Application deadline is June 17, 2016.

The details are to be finalized, but we will be sending a team of teachers, under the leadership of a yet to be chosen Rotarian to be a resource team for schools in Rotary District 4250, Guatemala.

Our Rotary District 5550 has been involved for many years in building schools in rural areas of Guatemala under a program that is called “The Ripple Effect”.  We now wish to bring four (retired or active) teachers to that area to act as mentors for four weeks with classroom teachers. The program would benefit from having team members with a variety of teaching skills and experiences. Language skills in Spanish would be a definite asset.

Joya Verde, the school in which the team will be working, is a primary school (K-6), one hour outside of Guatemala City.

Most expenses would be covered for international travel, hosting in country, etc. but there would naturally be some personal expenses covered by the individual.

The VTT members do not need to be Rotarians, but they must be experienced teachers who can clearly provide invaluable mentorship. A pre-trip orientation and a post-trip debriefing are required. You can learn much more about Rotary and VTT by going online to www.rotary.org.
