On Aug. 11, the Beautiful Plains Horticultural Society held their 47th annual Fruit, Flower & Vegetable Show in the Neepawa Legion hall.

Taking place every year on the second Thursday in August, the event was exactly what it sounds like: a showcase of fruits, flowers and vegetables. Open to the public, anyone in the community could enter the show. Entries were judged and prizes, sponsored by various local businesses as well as the town and local municipalities, were given to the winners of the various categories.

In addicition to fruit, flowers and vegetables, the show also included some creative works of art in the novelty figure category. These snales, made of yams, cabbage and onions, sit beside a turtle made from a melon.
