Glenella Homecoming Committee

In anticipation of Canada’s 150th birthday, happening in 2017, the Glenella and area community is busy planning a homecoming celebration for the long weekend of Aug. 4 to 6, 2017. The Municipality is preparing a site for an RV park to be up and running for summer 2017.

The homecoming committee is holding a New Year’s Eve dance, featuring Dauphin Countryfest’s battle of the bands winner, “Kate’s Outlaw”. Tickets for this event will be available Nov. 1 at various businesses in Glenella or by calling Holly at 204-352-4043. All Proceeds from the dance will go toward homecoming expenses. Canada’s 150th also coincides with Glenella’s centennial. The homecoming committee is busy planning a weekend full of festivities for young and old to enjoy. There will also be a high school reunion for all those who attended Glenella School since 1986.

For those of you not familiar with the town and surrounding farming community, Glenella is situated fairly central between the three large centres of Portage La Prairie, Brandon and Dauphin, meaning these centres are approximately 1 hour 15 minutes away from our busy little town. From Neepawa it is approximately 40 km northeast.

Glenella is the centre for a large farming community, complete with the busy HK Lumber yard, Beautiful Plains Credit Union branch, post office, Preisentanz General Store, Glenella Restaurant, Corona Hotel and Scott’s Welding Shop. We also have the main office for the Municipality of Glenella-Landsdowne, a Glenvilla seniors centre, a community hall and a busy curling/skating rink complex that serves the area in the winter. The Glenella School teaches children from Kindergarten to Grade 12 and provides a nursery school program one to two days per week. We welcome you to come see what our little town has to offer.

The homecoming committee is asking everyone to pass on the information about the homecoming weekend to family and friends near and far. They are asking everyone to try and pre-register so they can get an idea of how many people plan on attending.  You can contact Adrene Schmidt at 204-352-4435 or email her at This email address is being protected from spambots.
