Recreation Manager

March has been a very busy month, and it does not look like we will be slowing down any in April! March was host to numerous successful programs including: Art Night Out put on by Nicole Metzger, multiple stick ‘n’ puck/public skate events, a Rock and Read program, a Ready, Set, Grow program, a four-week Kids in the Kitchen program and two out-of-town hockey tournaments.

New programs that will be offered in April include Shake, Rattle, and Roll. This is a free program put on by Riverdale Recreation Commission and Assiniboine North Child Parent for children ages two to six. It helps develop early movement, co-ordination and gross motor skills through games, songs and fun activities. There are a couple of spots available if you would like to register. Classes began March 30,  but it’s not too late to attend!

A six-week yoga program is scheduled to start on April 3 at Rivers United Church. There will be two different classes offered and registration is still being accepted.

Along with Nicole Metzger’s usual Art Night Out program, we are also offering Canvases for Kids; this gives children aged eight to 13 the opportunity to participate in an art night. This is a new program which has had popular response; therefore, if you would like to register your child, please do so sooner rather than later! If you would like more information on any of the programs being offered, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Make sure to keep your eye on the arena calendar for stick ‘n’ puck, and public skate times. The ice will be taken out in April, so get your skating in before it is too late for the season!

Even further ahead in the calendar, our upcoming programs include: baby and toddler music classes (April 27-June 15), Drums Alive/circuit training (May 8-June 19), Kids in the Kitchen (dates unknown), gymnastics (dates unknown) and summer camps (July 3-Sept. 1). Stay tuned for more information!
